A woman and two children have been killed by a train outside Eerste River on Tuesday morning.

Metrorail's Lindelo Matya said it appeared the woman threw herself and the children in front of the train.

“An unknown female with two children was standing on the tracks to allegedly commit suicide."

Matya said the incident had affected services.

“As a result it has delayed our trains bound for Strand."
