Western Cape Premier Helen Zille on Wednesday said having an effective public transport is key.
Zille cycled from Table View to the Civic Centre, in a race against private cars and the MyCiTi bus.
The bus proved to be faster than her and her entourage of cyclists, who arrived nine minutes after the bus.
Zille said she was pleased. “It was great. We had better exercise than the people on the bus. So the advantage if coming second is that you are fitter. But if you want to be quicker, you come with the bus.”
